Husband Appreciation Day – April 17, 2021

Treat your hubby like royalty on National Husband Appreciation Day

Today is Husband Appreciation Day. Who knew?

Today is Husband Appreciation Day. Who knew?

Not me. Not my wife. I dare say few knew there was such a day. Question is, why do we even need a Husband Appreciation Day? If one day is Husband Appreciation Day what of the other 364 days? Are they Husband Unappreciation days?

If you are a wife looking to show appreciation to your husband, there are only two things you need to do (This from the Book of Eddie, the often overlooked fifth Gospel of the New Testament.)

Show respect for your husband. Trust your husband.

There are a great many things husbands should show and do for their wives, but respect and trust will suffice for most husbands. I say this because way back, long ago, in The Garden, Eve failed to trust Adam. Here is the tale: (Again from the Book of Eddie).

“The LORD God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.’ The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
(Genesis 2:16-17)

Some verses, days, months, time later . . .

The devil said, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.”
(Genesis 3:1-6)

With this one act, Eve demonstrated a lack of trust in the words of Adam: words given to him by the LORD God.

Trust and respect go together. For men, it is our mantle. If we cannot be trusted, if our character is in disrepute, we have nothing, are nothing.

Yes, men seek trust and respect but we must earn it. A day of appreciation is fine, but a life reflecting the character of Christ should be every man’s goal.

May we pray that the Holy Spirit change each of us to be that kind of man and woman.
